Saint Michael the Archangel stained glass craft

Recreate this “stained glass” using only permanent markers,
the Catholic Playground free printable template of Saint Michael, saint michael stained glass

and a sheet of plastic (we made two stained glass crafts- one using a plastic packaging box that was headed for the recycle bin and another using a plastic lid from a foil pan).
saint michael stained glassFirst, print and cut out the Saint Michael template…

saint michael stained glassthen flip the plastic over so that the image shows.  Color the image onto the plastic using permanent markers.  We found that it works best by outlining and coloring all the black areas first, then filling in the remaining areas with the colored Sharpies.

Color the image completely, then remove the template from the back of the plastic sheet. Cut the image out of the plastic and your stained glass is ready to hang.saint michael stained glassPut your Saint Michael stained glass in a window that catches the light and your stained glass will reflect beautifully on other surfaces:

I made something similar one Easter using Shrinky Dinks- they come out beautiful!! You just need to sand it first if you get the smooth/ glossy kind. Then use colored pencils (the pencils lines didn’t show up after baked on most of them). They get dark and the colors are lovely once baked. Keep in mind they get MUCH smaller so use a full sheet to trace your template on! Also, make a hole with a hole punch at top, then use a pen or other cylinder to make he hole a little larger than that- it shrinks up too. Hope someone else tries it!!

Thanks for sharing this, Cara! Using Shrinky Dinks is such a creative idea! I bet stained glass Shrinky Dinks would make wonderful gifts! 😉
