Communion of Saints Cookies

October 27, 2014November, Recipes Standard

“Those that so honor Him shall shine in heaven like the sun among the stars; for the glory of my Divine Son’s humanity will redound in a special measure in those who have behaved well toward Him in the Blessed Sacrament and have received Him with all reverence…”

-Venerable Mother Mary of Agreda

saints cookies

Using this sugar cookie recipe and a gingerbread man cookie cutter, we created our own edible Communion of Saints!

Before baking your cookies, place a cookie stick in each cookie.  Press firmly to make sure the stick makes good contact with the dough.  Let the cookies cool completely before moving or decorating.

Once the cookies were completely cool, we frosted each with a thin layer of skin (peach) colored frosting before decorating.

Some of the supplies we used included:

  • Tootsie Rolls (chocolate and flavored)
  • Airheads
  • pretzels
  • animal crackers
  • cookies
  • sprinkles

Both the Tootsie Rolls and Airheads are easy to roll out with a rolling pin. We used these to create clothes and other accessories.

Our Communion of Saints included:

St. Ignatius of Antioch, Mary, Queen of All Saints, and St. Kateri Tekakwitha…

When all the cookies were decorated, we placed them into cupcakes frosted white.

We had a lot of fun putting these together with our siblings. It’s a great project for all ages to get involved. Pick your favorite saint and have fun!
