Holy Spirit Scripture Wheel

May 29, 2014Activities, Crafts, Holy Spirit Standard

“The Holy Spirit gives us joy. And he is joy. Joy is the gift in which all the other gifts are included. It is the expression of happiness, of being in harmony with ourselves, that which can only come from being in harmony with God and with his creation. It belongs to the nature of joy to be radiant; it must communicate itself. The missionary spirit of the Church is none other than the impulse to communicate the joy which has been given.”

-Pope Benedict XVI, Christmas Address to the Roman Curia, 2008

holy spirit craft project

Based on verses from the Bible, this craft presents four scenes of the Holy Spirit from the New Testament. The wheel turns to highlight one of four feasts: the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Baptism of the Lord, and Pentecost. It’s a great way to learn the stories and memorize the corresponding verses!

To make your own Holy Spirit Scripture Wheel, you will need:

holy ghost craft project
–our Scripture wheel template (we printed it on cardstock)
-two paper plates
-scissors
-glue
-a brad (we used a star shaped brad)
-colored pencils, markers, or crayons
-a ribbon to hang your craft

To begin, cut out the the three pieces of the dove from the second page of the template.

You will need one plate for the body of the dove and a second plate for the wings. Trace these pieces onto the backs of the plates.

Be sure to line the long, curved edges of the template up with the outer edge of the plate. This will give your dove’s wings and tails a feathery look 🙂

Using scissors or a hole punch, put small holes in the three plate pieces to correspond with the dots marked on the template.

Place all three plate pieces face up. The straight edges of the wings should be closest to the tail of the dove.

Once you have the pieces in the correct order, align the three holes to match the picture below. Glue the underside of the body down to the wings.

While the glue is drying, cut and color the circle on the first page of the template. Poke a small hole in the exact center of the circle.

Once your paper plate dove is dry, align the very center of the circle with the holes on the dove. Insert a brad through both the paper plate dove and the cardstock circle.

You should now be able to rotate the circle to display an image along with its corresponding Bible verse.

Attach a ribbon to the upper left and right hand corners of the dove’s tail using hot glue or another strong glue.

Just did this craft with my 3rd grade REP class. I pre-cut the wings & body for them & pre-punched holes where needed. Additionally, I punched 2 holes in the tail and had kids thread & knot red yarn through for hanging. Much easier than using hot glue. Instead of brad, used simple 2 prong paper fastener. Easy for kids to do and worked perfectly. Kids loved the craft! Thank you.
