Saint Joan of Arc coloring page: May 30th

June 10, 2013Coloring, May, Saints Coloring Standard

In the 15th century, a famous French legend predicted that a young maiden would unite the country of France, which had been torn apart by the English. Joan, a devout peasant girl, was only in her teens when she heard the voices of three saints: St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret. The voices told her to unite with the king of France and help restore the country. Though she had no military experience, Joan rode fearlessly into battle, leading troops to multiple victories. At 19 years old, she was captured and sold to the English. When she refused to deny her faith and the voices that guided her, the English condemned her to death. She was burned at the stake and canonized a saint in 1920.
