Saint Martha Coloring Page: July 29th

July 31, 2014Biblical Coloring Pages, Coloring, July, Saints Coloring Standard

Martha, along with her sister Mary and brother Lazarus, was very close to Jesus. He visited their family several times in the Gospels. In one instance, Martha welcomes Jesus and His disciples, serving them as a good hostess would. When she shows frustration with her sister for not helping, Jesus merely reminds her that nothing is more important in life than listening to Him. The next times she sees Jesus is just after the death of her brother, Lazarus. When she hears that He has come, she leaves behind her guests to greet Him. Martha demonstrates her love for Christ and knowledge of Him as Son of God when Lazarus is brought back to life.

Traditionally, Martha is pictured with a dragon. Legend tells us that after Jesus’ death, Martha moved to Avignon, France, with her siblings. Nearby, in Tarascon, France, the people were plagued by a threatening dragon. Martha bravely faced the ferocious beast and tamed it with a cross and holy water. Martha lived in Tarascon until her death.
