Chalice window cling craft

May 3, 2014Activities, Crafts, May Standard

chalice window cling
This window cling was designed as a craft for my daughter to create while preparing for her First Communion.
We used these materials we already had at home:
* white glue
* waxed paper
* glitter
* colored plastic beads or “gems”
* chalice template

Click the image below for the paper template.

First, print the template and tape it to a flat surface. If you want to move the project while it’s drying (it will probably take a day to dry),  tape it to a piece of cardboard or a cookie sheet. Then, cut a piece of waxed paper to fit over the image and tape this down as well.

Once your wax paper is in place, use a squeeze bottle of white glue to trace the lines on the template. Then, pour or sprinkle glitter immediately over the glue lines you have created. We used gold glitter for the chalice outline and white glitter for the outline of the host.  (You could do this project even with a  younger child if you do the first step of creating the initial outline for him or her with glue.  Once the glue outline is dry, it is easy to fill in the rest of the chalice with a squeeze bottle of glue).

Let this dry completely- for us, this took a full day.
Use your squeeze bottle of glue again to fill in all the empty spaces on your chalice. While the glue is wet, place any beads or other decorations on the chalice.

Again, let the glue dry completely. Once the window cling is dry, peel it gently off the waxed paper. On the back side of the window cling, spray or sprinkle with water, press against a window or mirror and enjoy your new decoration!

    Hi Laura!

    We are so happy to hear the template was helpful in making the banner! May God bless your son abundantly on his 1st Holy Communion and always!

    God bless,
