Our Lady of Guadalupe Perler Bead Pattern

December 10, 2013Activities, Crafts, Perler Standard

“Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms?”
The Blessed Mother’s words to Juan Diego

**The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, which houses the tilma of Juan Diego, is the most visited Marian shrine in the world.**

Here is a new perler bead pattern for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas:

This is a pattern which uses two large (5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch square) clear peg boards. You will need the following beads:
gold or yellow
turquoise or other blue or green
black
white
red
brown
purple
blue
tan or flesh-colored
NOTE:  There were a few places where we used partial beads.  (To do this, an adult only should cut the bead in half with a sharp knife).  We used half gold beads at the top of the image where the gold rays are on an angle.  This is to fill in the gaps so that the beads will adhere to one another when the design is melted.  For Our Lady’s folded hands, we put partial flesh-colored beads at the top of her hands and in between her hands and her arm to create her wrist. Also, we did put a partial brown bead between two flesh-colored beads for Mary’s eye and a small pink section in place for her mouth.  However, you could also draw an eye and a mouth with a permanent marker after the image is melted.
