Saint Anthony of Padua coloring page: June 13th

June 10, 2013Coloring, June, Saints Coloring Standard

Though Anthony initially joined the Augustinian order, he left and became a Franciscan. He was inspired by the five Franciscan martyrs who died in North Africa in the year 1220. He had hopes of becoming a missionary and martyr, like them, but he never made it to Africa. Anthony is known for his great skill as a preacher. He spent much of his life renouncing heresy and defending the Faith. Legend tells us that once, when preaching to heretics that would not listen, he went out and preached to the fish in the water. Anthony died when he was only 36 years old and was canonized less than one year after his death.
