Saint Gabriel was named Francis at his birth, after Saint Francis of Assisi. When he was 18, Saint Gabriel heard the Blessed Mother say, “Francis, the world is not for you anymore.” He then entered the Passionist monastery, taking the name “Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother.”
